The pilots that form the teams for the World Aerobatic Championships are amongst the best in the world and indeed are equal to the elite competitors you will find in any sport. The rare blend of skills – both physical and mental – that are required to be a top aerobatic athlete are highly developed and take years of training, in this most demanding of sports.

The Silverstone event will see up to 70 of the world's finest aerobatic pilots return to the UK, each trying to win the title of World Champion.

Over the past 24 Championships, World Champions have come from USSR/Russia (8), Czechoslovakia (4), France (4), USA (3), Spain (2), Hungary (1), Germany (1).
